The total volume of direct investments into the region having been made since the beginning of investing direct investments amounted to 2.66 billion USD, which makes 5.1% of the total volume in Ukraine (3rd place after Kyiv city – 21.3 billion USD and Dnipropetrovsk region – 6.2 billion USD).
The largest volume of direct investments (equity instruments) was made in Donetsk region (balances) by non-residents from the Netherlands – 77.9% of the total volume (1 505.3 million USD), Cyprus – 11.7% (225.9 million USD), Great Britain – 3.5% (68.5 million USD), Germany – 2.0% (38.8 million USD), British Virgin Islands – 1.3% (25.9 million USD). These countries account for 96.5% of the total volume of direct foreign investment contributed into the region’s economy. 1 796.9 million USD (93.0%) was invested into the region’s economy from the EU countries.
79.2% (1530.1 million USD) of direct investments are concentrated in industrial enterprises, incl. processing industry – 73.3% (1415.3 million USD). Activities of enterprises of wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 154.5 million USD (8.0%), real estate transactions – 148.9 million USD (7.7%), professional, scientific and technical activities – 51.8 million USD (2.7%), transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities – 9.3 million USD (0.5%), arts, sports, entertainment and recreation – 6.9 million USD (0.4%), activities in the field of administrative and support services – 5.1 million USD (0.3%), information and telecommunications – 3.3 million USD (0.2%).
