State of foreign economic activity of Donetsk region for the 1st half of 2021 (goods)
The foreign trade turnover in goods in Donetsk region in the 1st half of 2021 amounted to 3749.4 million USD (increased by 43.6% or 1139.2 million USD in comparison with the same period last year) and had a positive balance of 2145 million USD (in the 1st half of 2020, the positive balance was equal to 1099.4 million USD), including export – 2947.2 million USD (increased by 58.9%), import – 802.2 million USD (increased by 6.2%) (Table 1).
The export coverage ratio of import made 3.67 (in the 1st half of 2020 – 2.46).
During the 1st half of 2021, the business entities of the region carried out foreign economic transactions with partners from 117 countries.

The main market outlets of goods for the enterprises of the region were the EU countries (50.1% of the total export of goods), Asia (21.9%), the CIS countries (14.7%), the USA (5.7%) and Africa (2.7%) (Fig. 1).

The most significant trade partners in export of goods during the 1st half of 2021 were the following countries: Italy (25.1% of the total volume of goods export); Turkey (16.8%); Poland (12.2%); Russian Federation (9.9%); United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (3.9%); the USA (3.7%).
The main goods of the region to be exported: base metals and articles thereof, mechanical and electrical machines, mineral products and agricultural products (Fig. 2).

The largest import of goods was carried out with the United States, which amounted 27.4% of the total imports of the region, Russian Federation (26.3%), China (12.9%), Germany (3.6%), Turkey (3.2%), Poland (2.9%), the Czech Republic (3.1%).

STATE OF FOREIGN TRADE WITH THE EU COUNTRIES
The foreign trade turnover in goods in Donetsk region with the EU countries during the 1st half of 2021 amounted to 1622.3 million USD and had a positive balance of 1333.5 million USD.
The export of goods to the European Union amounted to 1477.9 million USD, or 50.1% of the total exports and increased by 74.7% in comparison with 2020.
Among the EU partner countries, the goods were most exported to Italy 50.1%, Poland 24.3%, Spain 5.2%, Romania 3.7%, Slovakia 2.6%, France and Czech Republic 1,9%, Lithuania 1.8% (Fig. 4).
The import of goods from the European Union countries amounted to 144.4 million USD, or 18% of the total volume and increased by 28.7% in comparison with 2020.

The foreign trade turnover in services in Donetsk region during the 1st half of 2021 amounted to 80.6 million USD (decreased by 1.5% in comparison with the same period last year), including export – 35.6 million USD (decreased by 17.4%, or 7.5 million USD), import – 45.0 million USD (decreased by 16.3%, or by 6.3 million USD). The negative balance made 9.4 million USD (in the 1st half of 2020, the positive balance was 4.4 million USD).
The export-import coverage ratio was 0.79 (in the 1st half of 2020 – 1.11).
During the 1st half of 2021, business entities of the region carried out foreign economic transactions with partners from 110 countries, while the services of enterprises and organizations of the region were exported to 15 countries of the world and the services were imported from 6 countries.

The largest volumes of foreign trade turnover in services accounted for the EU countries (34.3% of foreign trade turnover in services), the CIS countries (12.5%), America (2.6 %), Asia (2.0%), Africa (1.0%) (Fig. 1).
The main market outlets for services of enterprises in the region were the countries of EU (26.3% of total export of services), the CIS countries (9.6%), the USA (3.7%), Asia and Africa (2.2%).
The most significant trading partners in the export of services during the 1st half of 2021 were the following countries: the Russian Federation (9.6%), Germany (2.5%), Panama (2.3%), Malta (1,8%), Georgia (1,7%), Egypt (1.5%), the USA (1.3%).
The most imported trade in services was carried out with the Russian Federation (14.8%), Germany (4.8%), Turkey (1.8%), the USA (1.7%).

State of foreign trade in services with the EU countries
The foreign trade turnover in services of Donetsk region with the EU countries in the 1st half of 2021 amounted to 27.6 million USD and had a negative balance of 8.9 million USD.
The export of services to the European Union countries amounted to 9.3 million USD, or 26.3% of the total export volume and increased by 57.6% in comparison with the same period of 2020.
The import of services from the European Union countries amounted to 18.3 million USD, or 40.7% of the total import volume and increased by 13% in comparison with the same period of 2020.
